Over two thousand year history, there are many trade-villages having rich experience of trimming, piping, embroidering, and beading by hand stitching in Vietnam, especially in the North around Hanoi. However, Vietnam still is an agricultural country where 80 percent of people are farmers who live in rural area with the main job of growing rice and cannot live on rice alone.
Lechat Studio has infiltrated into those trade-villages trying to understand and support artisans in their village life by giving them a new opportunity. The artisans are provided fine materials and taught to be masters of new sewing techniques to meet the requirements of new challenging work which will help them to be able to stay in their villages and continue their traditional lifestyles rather than move away from their homes and families to search jobs in the big city.
